Instructional Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with faculty subject matter experts to create, enhance, and refine online learning experiences.

• Support faculty in translating learning outcomes into effective instructional strategies, activities, assessments, and educational materials.

• Implement outcomes-based design, educational theories, principles of adult learning, evidence-based teaching methods, Universal Design for Learning, accessibility standards, and inclusive teaching practices.

• Assist faculty in developing course content and utilizing the Canvas learning management system.

• Incorporate educational technologies that promote student learning and keep abreast of emerging technologies.

• Oversee multiple course development projects with varying timelines, priorities, and deliverables.

• Keep project partners updated and ensure projects progress smoothly.

• Engage in collaboration across the college on various cross-functional committees and initiatives.

• Share insights, resources, and expertise with colleagues.

• Contribute to larger initiatives that promote teaching and learning advancement across the college.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum and instruction, or a related discipline.

• At least three years of experience in an instructional design or comparable role focused on developing online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced learning environments.

• Three or more years of experience in higher education settings.

• Experience employing backward design principles to create assessments, activities, and instructional materials that align with learning outcomes.

• Familiarity with learning theory, adult learning principles, and evidence-based teaching methodologies.

• Dedication to accessible, inclusive, and learner-centered design.

• Experience working collaboratively with subject matter experts.

• Proficient in authoring content within a learning management system, preferably Canvas.

• Knowledge of Google Workspace and Zoom.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Ability to work efficiently in a remote setting, demonstrating self-direction, proactive communication, and collaboration across various US time zones.

• Preferred: Experience in teaching or developing courses related to healthcare education.

• Preferred: Advanced understanding of UDL, WCAG, Section 508, or other accessibility standards.

• Preferred: Experience utilizing learning data to inform course enhancements.

• Preferred: Proficiency in eLearning software and/or tools for video, audio, and image editing.

• Preferred: Experience in leveraging AI for instructional purposes or workflow optimization.

• Preferred: Ability to edit web pages using basic HTML and CSS.
