Infrastructure Engineer, TechOps, CICD Image Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of Ceramic, the internal image building platform, which includes feature enhancements, bug resolutions, and upstream-tooling integrations.

• Create, develop, and sustain automated golden image pipelines primarily for Linux, with extensions to macOS and Windows.

• Compile and package software from the source to meet internal framework and compatibility requirements.

• Develop Python tooling and automation for image creation, validation, drift detection, and regression testing.

• Author and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible, Packer, and Terraform for image configuration, provisioning, and compliance hardening.

• Integrate image building pipelines with Jenkins and GitLab CI, as well as publish artifacts through Artifactory.

• Manage the lifecycle of images across the CI/CD fleet, which includes provisioning, deployment, and decommissioning.

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure images adhere to security standards and successfully pass automated scans.

• Address and resolve image-related production issues throughout the CI/CD fleet.

• Work alongside product engineering teams to assess and integrate new toolchain requirements.

• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

• In-depth experience in Linux systems engineering at scale, with a solid understanding of the build toolchain, package management, shared libraries, and compiling software from the source.

• Proficient in Python, as it is the primary language for automation, tooling, and scripting needs.

• Experience in software development with a focus on owning and extending an internal platform or service.

• Familiarity with Ansible, Packer, and Terraform.

• Proven experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitLab CI.

• Knowledge of artifact management tools, with a preference for Artifactory.

• Understanding of virtualization concepts and hands-on experience with VMware, KVM, or similar hypervisors.

• Basic knowledge of macOS and Windows system administration within a CI/CD or build environment.

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities across operating system, network, and application layers.

• Demonstrated experience in utilizing AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, enhance efficiency, and drive business outcomes.

• Familiarity with macOS MDM, DEP, or Apple Business Manager.

• Experience with Kubernetes, preferably in an on-premises setting.

• Background in security hardening, including familiarity with CIS benchmarks, STIG, or Falcon sensor management.

• Previous experience in a large-scale CI/CD or build infrastructure environment.

• At least 4 years of experience in a software or infrastructure engineering role.

• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to effectively collaborate with a distributed team across multiple time zones.

• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
