Industrial Hygienist / Process Safety Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop intricate single-turn prompts focused on industrial hygiene, chemistry, and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate the correctness of each response.

• Create reference answers that illustrate the characteristics of a correct response and the underlying technical reasoning.

• Conduct red-team evaluations of advanced AI models to identify misuse potential in technical inquiries.

• Generate written explanations that are accessible to non-specialists.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in the field over extended periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant experience in assessing actual exposures and process hazards, along with the authority to approve safety controls.

• Suitable backgrounds include certified industrial hygiene, process hazard analysis (HAZOP, LOPA, what-if studies, management of change), toxic release and dispersion modeling (consequence analysis, AEGL/ERPG criteria, facility siting), ventilation, containment, and PPE program design for chemical hazards, as well as regulatory compliance (PSM, Seveso, COMAH, OSHA or national equivalents).

• Capability to differentiate between routine professional inquiries and potentially hazardous misuse-oriented requests.

• Excellent writing skills; every assessment must provide a written rationale that is comprehensible to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly regarded.
