Indirect Procurement Category Manager – Packaging

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain strategic initiatives within the Indirect Procurement Category for Road Transportation.

• Oversee inbound and outbound deliveries for both bulk and packaged goods, collaborating with 3PL logistics providers and subcontractors.

• Formulate category strategies, negotiate with suppliers, uncover and implement cost-saving measures, and utilize procurement tools and techniques.

• Conduct demand assessments, manage processes, and oversee essential supplier relationships in North America.

• Craft sourcing strategies aimed at enhancing cost efficiency, lead times, working capital, payment terms, and spend visibility.

• Investigate, select, nurture, and manage supplier relationships across various business units.

• Engage with internal stakeholders to pinpoint cost-saving prospects.

• Align category strategies and exchange knowledge with category managers from different regions.

• Identify vendors and handle the vendor selection, qualification, and approval process.

• Assess vendor performance and address supplier-related issues.

• Prepare and sustain RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs until project completion.

• Support cross-functional teams in defining project scopes.

• Develop, manage, and oversee Master Service Agreements.

• Gather, analyze, and ensure the quality and accuracy of spend analysis.

• Maintain documentation and communicate non-conformance issues both internally and with vendors.

• Negotiate spot purchases and agreements while educating others on procurement policies and procedures.

• Enter, monitor, maintain, and verify compliance of purchase orders and contracts.

• Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

• Act as the North America point of contact for service, commercial terms, and contract disputes.

• Significant experience in negotiating road transportation services.

• Demonstrated ability to utilize and leverage e-sourcing/procurement systems effectively.

• Capability to develop best practice sourcing methodologies and category strategies.

• Exceptional teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities.

• Experience in spend analysis, contract development, and execution.

• Proficiency in business English.

• Ideally, experience in cross-cultural environments.

• Strong quantitative and data analysis competencies.

• Deep understanding of the transportation industry in both the United States and Canada.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing/buying indirect categories or related fields.

• Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain, engineering, business administration, information systems, or related disciplines.

• MBA preferred.
