In-House Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Prepare, review, negotiate, and provide guidance on commercial agreements, encompassing fuel supply agreements, waste supply and feedstock contracts, service agreements, maintenance contracts, consultancy agreements, procurement and supplier agreements, framework agreements, and terms and conditions.

• Assist commercial and procurement teams during contract negotiations.

• Recognize and address contractual, commercial, and operational risks.

• Provide counsel to internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations and strategies for dispute prevention.

• Support contract lifecycle management and governance processes.

• Offer practical legal assistance on business initiatives and strategic projects.

• Contribute to compliance efforts and the development of internal policies.

• Coordinate with external legal counsel as necessary.

• Aid the broader legal team with ad hoc commercial, regulatory, and corporate issues.

• Collaborate closely with commercial, operational, procurement, and management teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.

• Ideally 2-4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).

• Background in private practice or in-house legal settings.

• Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

• Exceptional contract drafting and communication abilities.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.

• Pragmatic and commercially-oriented approach to legal counsel.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage directly with operational and commercial teams.

• Prior in-house legal experience is advantageous.

• Experience in sectors such as energy, utilities, waste management, infrastructure, engineering, or manufacturing is preferred.

• Familiarity with fuel supply agreements, procurement contracts, logistics agreements, or industrial services contracts is a plus.

• Experience advising on supplier and operational contracts in a regulated context is beneficial.

• Commercially savvy and solutions-focused.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Proactive, practical, and able to work with minimal supervision.

• Capable of building relationships across all levels of the organization.

• Team player with a positive and cooperative attitude.

• A valid UK driving licence is required for occasional site visits.
