This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Create and oversee comprehensive automation architectures that encompass PLCs, drives, motion systems, and safety-critical control environments.

• Formulate scalable control strategies tailored for high-speed and continuous manufacturing processes.

• Establish standards and best practices for the design, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management of control systems.

• Design, support, and enhance SCADA and MES platforms, possessing extensive knowledge of Ignition-based systems.

• Develop and manage tag models, historian strategies, alarming frameworks, and visualization standards.

• Guarantee the high availability, performance, and maintainability of plant-floor data systems.

• Create consistent data models and interfaces between SCADA/MES and enterprise analytics platforms.

• Design and publish REST APIs, as well as create and document OpenAPI 3.0.0 specifications utilizing the Ignition WebDev Module.

• Integrate plant-floor systems with enterprise databases and analytics platforms, such as Snowflake.

• Design and support secure OT/IT data pipelines leveraging AWS services and hybrid architectures.

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams that support AWS, Nutanix-based, and VMware-based environments.

• Provide support for Linux-based edge systems, containerized services, and automation-related infrastructure.

• Align automation systems with enterprise security, networking, and infrastructure standards.

• Manage database administration for PostgreSQL and MS SQL, covering schema design, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and data integrity.

• Design and implement edge AI and machine learning inference pipelines for manufacturing applications.

• Develop and maintain Python-based services for data processing, feature extraction, and model inference.

• Act as a technical escalation point for intricate automation, data, performance, and integration challenges.

• Lead technical design reviews and impact platform, architecture, and vendor decisions.

• Mentor engineers and provide insights on advanced automation, SCADA, data, and edge AI subjects.

• Convert manufacturing, quality, and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Propel continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system uptime, data reliability, and operational efficiency.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Over 10 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing systems.

• Strong proficiency in PLC programming, industrial networking, drives, and motion control.

• Advanced experience with SCADA platforms, particularly Ignition.

• Proficient in Python for automation, data processing, and system integration.

• Experience with relational databases and database administration within manufacturing settings.

• Practical experience with Linux and Microsoft OS in hybrid infrastructure environments.

• Comprehensive understanding of OT/IT integration, cybersecurity considerations, and system reliability.

• Proven experience deploying machine learning or edge AI solutions in production manufacturing settings.

• Familiarity with Snowflake or comparable enterprise analytics platforms.

• Experience with Nutanix, AWS, or VMware infrastructure in hybrid cloud/on-premises deployments.

• Knowledge of containerized workloads and edge computing architectures.

• Experience with high-speed, continuous, or tightly controlled manufacturing processes.

• Background in designing enterprise-scale automation, SCADA, or MES platforms.

• Proven ability to influence technical strategy across multiple sites or cross-functional teams.
