HV Substation Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct testing and commissioning of HV and LV substation equipment to align with project schedules and budget constraints.

• Oversee the technical integrity of both primary and secondary equipment throughout construction and operational stages.

• Promote a culture of safety on-site, including the management of risk assessments and method statements.

• Direct on-site commissioning teams while offering technical advice, training, and mentorship.

• Develop technical documentation, such as test records, reports, and tracking of non-conformances.

• Collaborate with project stakeholders to address technical inquiries and oversee site-based commissioning personnel.

• Diagnose issues within protection schemes and facilitate the integration of third-party IEDs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in testing and commissioning HV power system equipment within generation, transmission, or distribution settings.

• Competence in managing and troubleshooting intricate protection schemes and substation automation systems.

• Familiarity with IEC61850, Modbus, and IEC 104 communication protocols.

• Proficiency in using Omicron, Sverker, or Megger testing equipment.

• Willingness to travel extensively for projects and field assignments throughout the UK and internationally.

• Availability to work during holidays, weekends, and additional hours as necessary.

• Capability to spend significant time away from home for training and field tasks.

• A formal Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent is preferable but not mandatory.
