Human Resources Generalist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the entire recruiting process for western roles, which include positions in peer support, case management, FP&A, growth, product, and clinical fields.

• Collaborate with hiring managers on role intake, requisition setup, and interview framework.

• Identify, screen, and evaluate candidates while coordinating interviews and scheduling.

• Develop and sustain candidate pipelines for recurring and high-volume roles.

• Offer job positions and manage pre-hire procedures.

• Assist western hires with onboarding processes, including Paylocity setup, documentation, and first-week logistics.

• Conduct I-9 verifications and complete E-Verify steps.

• Provide a warm and welcoming experience for new hires during their first 90 days.

• Oversee offboarding and exit procedures.

• Act as the primary contact for employee policies, benefits inquiries, and People-related needs.

• Address employee relations issues and advise managers on feedback, performance discussions, and corrective actions.

• Ensure compliance with employment laws across western states.

• Assist with state workforce and program compliance, including requirements in Arizona.

• Participate in audits, maintain recordkeeping, and ensure accuracy of employee data in Paylocity.

• Facilitate benefits enrollment, manage leave of absence, and handle accommodation requests.

• Contribute to efforts surrounding engagement, retention, and internal mobility.

• Serve as a cross-trained backup for payroll during the absence of the Payroll Specialist.

• Oversee the payroll calendar, send reminders, and review and prepare payroll inputs.

• Coordinate with Accounting and a payroll approver to ensure separation of duties during the second review.

• Address complex or time-sensitive payroll issues as they arise.

• Create and maintain People SOPs, templates, checklists, and workflows, including within Asana.

• Enhance recruiting, onboarding, and generalist practices as the organization expands.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of HR experience, demonstrating a strong background in full-cycle recruiting.

• Experience in multistate HR, with knowledge across western states.

• Recent and direct experience in recruiting for high-volume, mission-driven, or healthcare positions.

• Familiarity with employment law across western states, including wage and hour regulations, leave policies, and pay transparency requirements.

• Proficiency with HRIS and applicant tracking systems; experience with Paylocity is highly desirable.

• Direct experience with I-9 verification, E-Verify, and onboarding compliance processes.

• Strong judgment in employee relations, along with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.

• Excellent communication skills, approachable demeanor, and the ability to coach managers while supporting employees with empathy.

• Capability to work independently, follow through on issues until resolved, and establish structure in a growing organization.

• Must be located in the Mountain, Arizona, or Pacific time zone.

• Candidates must not be California residents.

• Preferred: experience with behavioral health, substance use disorder, or justice-involved populations.

• Preferred: recruiting or support experience within the peer support workforce.

• Preferred: experience in developing talent acquisition or onboarding programs from scratch.

• Preferred: certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.

• Preferred: conversational proficiency in Spanish.

• Preferred: familiarity with payroll processes or willingness to train as a payroll backup.

• Preferred: experience with California labor laws.
