Human Resources Generalist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in the daily operations of HR and address inquiries from both employees and management.

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and confidential employee records and HR databases.

• Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including necessary documentation, system access, and exit protocols.

• Aid in recruitment efforts, encompassing job postings, candidate communications, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.

• Provide support in benefits administration and act as a contact point for routine employee queries.

• Assist with payroll change tracking and HRIS management as needed.

• Generate HR reports, correspondence, forms, and other necessary documentation.

• Facilitate employee engagement initiatives and other HR programs.

• Help ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local employment laws as well as company policies.

• Support HR compliance tasks pertinent to government contractors.

• Aid in maintaining necessary employment eligibility, background checks, and other pre-employment documentation.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Report directly to the Director of Human Resources.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• 5 years of HR experience in support of a growing small business.

• Experience with federal government contractors is advantageous.

• Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Familiarity with HR information systems.

• Keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with a small team.

• Experience in a small or growing business supporting an employee headcount of 100 or more.

• Experience assisting employees across multiple states.

• Understanding of federal employment regulations and government contracting workforce practices.

• Background in employee onboarding, offboarding, data entry, and benefits administration.

• Experience with HRIS, payroll, benefits, or applicant tracking systems.
