HR Generalist, Employee Relations

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Deliver hands-on employee relations support for the Mass Market South and Canada business unit.

β€’ Guide leaders through issues related to performance, conduct, attendance, conflict, policy breaches, and other workplace challenges.

β€’ Execute impartial and comprehensive workplace investigations, which include interviews, fact collection, documentation, analysis, and recommendations.

β€’ Collaborate with leaders to formulate action plans and ensure timely resolution of employee issues.

β€’ Assist in corrective action procedures, including coaching, written warnings, performance improvement plans, and terminations.

β€’ Review and offer advice on employee relations documentation.

β€’ Identify trends in employee relations and suggest proactive solutions to both business and HR leadership.

β€’ Uphold confidentiality and maintain documentation throughout all employee relations processes.

β€’ Interpret and implement HR policies within the business unit.

β€’ Ensure consistent application of company policies while acknowledging jurisdictional differences in Canada.

β€’ Collaborate with HR leadership and Legal to assess employment risks and decide on appropriate actions.

β€’ Assist with HR compliance initiatives, audits, policy revisions, and new employment requirements.

β€’ Help develop or revise HR policies, processes, and manager resources specific to Canada.

β€’ Provide general HR support across various functions, including onboarding, transfers, leaves, accommodations, organizational changes, and offboarding.

β€’ Partner with the HR manager on broader people initiatives and employee-related matters.

β€’ Support organizational changes and business initiatives that require expertise in employee relations.

β€’ Contribute to HR projects, process enhancements, and initiatives aimed at improving employee experience and HR service effectiveness.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ In-depth knowledge of Canadian employment practices and standards, including provincial variations.

β€’ Proven expertise in employee relations, investigations, performance management, corrective action, and terminations.

β€’ Exceptional skills in investigation, interviewing, documentation, and conflict resolution.

β€’ Strong judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive employee issues.

β€’ Capability to coach leaders through challenging and high-risk employee situations.

β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

β€’ Proficiency in conveying complex HR or employment requirements in practical business language.

β€’ Capacity to balance employee advocacy, business needs, policy adherence, and organizational risk.

β€’ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple employee relations cases concurrently.

β€’ Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with HR leadership, HR Compliance, and other HR functions.

β€’ Keen attention to detail and a commitment to consistent and accurate documentation.

β€’ 1–3 years of progressive experience in HR, Employee Relations, or as an HR Generalist.

β€’ Required professional experience in supporting employees in Canada.

β€’ Experience in conducting workplace investigations and handling complex employee relations issues.

β€’ Applicants must have authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
