Hospitalist Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across 1–4 specialties

• Execute professional fee, facility, or HCC coding

• Determine ProFee and/or Facility E/M levels utilizing the company algorithm

• Identify critical care cases based on patient acuity

• Code ER surgical procedures to capture additional revenue when applicable

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the highest level of specificity

• Accurately apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes

• Interpret coding guidelines for precise code assignment

• Evaluate documentation significance and its impact on reimbursement

• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

• Follow internal policies, procedures, and privacy and security regulations

• Safeguard confidential Company information, including Personal Health Information

• Engage in Company-sponsored training and educational programs

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification from either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)

• Minimum of 6 months of relevant on-the-job experience

• Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance

• Familiarity with EMR and billing systems

• Access to a phone, reliable internet connection, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references

• Maintain a productivity and accuracy rate of 95% or above

• Achieve a quality score of 95% or higher

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook

• Capable of effective and professional communication both verbally and in writing

• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines

• Capacity to work independently from home

• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours each day

• Occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
