This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Review patient records and accurately assign the appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes following established guidelines.
β’ Achieve the inpatient coding productivity standard of 17 charts per day.
β’ Appropriately assign MS-DRG, POA, and discharge disposition.
β’ Provide assistance with inpatient, outpatient, and psychiatric coding.
β’ Collaborate as a team member to meet departmental objectives.
β’ Support data integrity audits and rectify errors, including invalid codes and discharge codes.
β’ Oversee the daily backlog of uncoded records, notify the Manager, and modify the work schedule as needed.
β’ Aid in identifying potential identity errors.
β’ Review and correctly apply Coding Clinics.
β’ Maintain up-to-date knowledge and certification.
β’ Minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital environment with a focus on inpatient/MS-DRG coding.
β’ At least 2 years of experience with regulatory issues related to Medicare and other third-party payers concerning hospital coding and billing.
β’ Graduation from an accredited coding program is required upon hire.
β’ One of the following certifications must be obtained upon hire: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
β’ Must ensure the confidentiality of health information.
β’ Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy when interacting with employees, physicians, administration, and the public in complex or emotional situations.
