This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.
β’ Conduct research, interpret, and implement coding, payer, and regulatory standards.
β’ Ensure accurate and compliant coding practices for both professional and hospital settings.
β’ Create, maintain, and revise coding guidance, standard operating procedures, reference materials, and position statements.
β’ Oversee and facilitate coding quality audits by managing requests, keeping records, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
β’ Monitor audit results, quality concerns, and compliance risks.
β’ Record patterns and assist in implementing corrective measures.
β’ Analyze coding quality data and audit findings to pinpoint trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
β’ Prepare summaries, reports, and materials for leadership, audit evaluations, and quality enhancement initiatives.
β’ Collaborate with Integrity Operations, coding leadership, clinicians, and educational teams.
β’ Assist with projects related to regulatory, compliance, and quality matters.
β’ Address internal questions concerning coding guidance, quality assessments, and audit results.
β’ Aid in testing, reporting validation, and workflow updates pertinent to coding quality, guidance, and compliance efforts.
β’ An associate degree or equivalent education and experience is required.
β’ Coding credentials are necessary, including AHIMA or AAPC certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced hospital-based coding is required.
β’ Familiarity with revenue cycle processes, health information workflows, and medical record audits is essential.
β’ Extensive understanding of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines is required.
β’ Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is necessary.
β’ Proven ability to identify coding quality issues and suggest improvement strategies.
β’ Proficiency in analyzing trends and data, and presenting them in statistical reporting formats.
β’ Strong organizational, prioritization, reading comprehension, analytical, and communication skills are essential.
β’ Ability to train others using both oral and written methods is required.
β’ Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, video and web conferencing, email, electronic coding, and EHR systems or applications are necessary.
β’ In-depth knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents is required.
β’ Capability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinicians, coding department members, and leadership is essential.
β’ Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making is required.
β’ Competence to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is essential.
β’ Initiative and ability to work collaboratively are necessary.
β’ Strong ethical standards are required.
β’ Experience with remote workforce operations is mandatory.
