This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +23 more states.

📋 Description

• Precisely assign and arrange ICD-10-CM diagnosis, CPT procedural, and HCPCS codes for professional inpatient and outpatient records to facilitate reimbursement and data collection.

• Review patient records to confirm patient information, documentation, reports, and account or encounter data.

• Code professional outpatient encounters and extract medical-record data.

• Consult with physicians or clinical staff for further diagnostic or procedural clarity when necessary.

• Access and implement local and national coverage determinations (LCDs/NCDs).

• Detect and report any unusual circumstances, risk factors, errors, discrepancies, and scanning issues.

• Adhere to coding quality and volume standards while maintaining coding proficiency within required timeframes.

• Provide rotating weekend coverage as required.

• Collaborate with Quality, Medical Staff, clinicians, physician offices, Patient Financial Services, and departmental leadership.

• Address edits and inquiries from Patient Financial Services within one business day.

• Engage in committee work and offer provider in-services when suitable.

• Attend coder meetings, in-services, training sessions, and educational programs.

• Contribute to the efficiency of the HIM department and support colleagues.

• Follow CMS, AAPC, HIPAA, safety, compliance, confidentiality, and medicolegal policies.

• Perform other assigned responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years of ProFee coding experience with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS is required.

• Must meet departmental quality and productivity standards within 90 days of employment.

• One of the following certifications is required: RHIT, RHIA, CPC/CPC-H, CCS/CCS-P, or CIRCC.

• Proficiency in computer, keyboard, and mouse usage is essential.

• Familiarity with basic Microsoft Office applications is required.

• Ability to navigate CMS and third-party payer websites for coding requirements and medical necessity guidelines.

• Competence in accessing and utilizing an encoder such as 3M or TruCode is necessary.

• Proficient in English, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.

• Graduate of a coding certificate program, or possess an associate or bachelor’s degree in health information technology or a related allied health field.

• Courses in physiology and pharmacology are preferred.

• Must comply with HIPAA regulations.
