Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and examine documentation found in medical records.

• Allocate diagnoses and procedure codes based on the documentation provided by physicians.

• Code services for inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional environments.

• Comply with the Standards of Ethical Coding set by the American Health Information Management Association.

• Follow established official coding guidelines.

• Conduct data entry utilizing both keyboard and mouse.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma is required.

• Previous experience in coding using ICD-10-CM for diagnoses/procedure coding and HCPCS/CPT for procedure coding in an acute care inpatient, outpatient hospital, or professional services environment.

• Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding classification systems within an acute care/hospital or professional services context.

• Certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, or CIRCC, or completion of such certification within six months of employment.

• Frequent repetitive motions involving approximately 25% keyboard use and 75% mouse use for data entry tasks.

• Preferred: Associate's degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program.

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited Health Information Management program.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the 3M encoder and the Epic system.
