Coding Specialist III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and accurately classify inpatient rehabilitation medical records in accordance with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines.

• Evaluate clinical documentation to ensure proper DRG assignment and adherence to compliant coding practices.

• Investigate complex coding inquiries and apply federal regulations, payer requirements, and coding standards as needed.

• Collaborate with providers, CDI specialists, and internal teams to enhance documentation accuracy and coding quality.

• Utilize EMR and encoder systems to effectively review and code patient accounts.

• Uphold productivity and quality standards while maintaining a keen attention to detail.

• Remain updated on coding changes, regulatory developments, and industry best practices pertinent to inpatient rehabilitation coding.

• Recognize opportunities for documentation and process enhancements through analytical assessments and critical thinking.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience is required, with a preference for rehabilitation coding experience.

• Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG assignment, and inpatient coding guidelines.

• Experience with EMR systems is required; familiarity with Envision is preferred.

• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS coding certification is preferred.

• Strong research and analytical skills with the capacity to interpret complex clinical documentation.

• Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote or fast-paced setting.
