This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HiL test engineers.
• Define and take ownership of the HiL test strategy, roadmap, and technical direction for Torc’s autonomous truck safety case.
• Ensure that HiL test methods, processes, and evidence are in compliance with ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
• Collaborate with Product, Systems, and Safety teams to convert functional and safety requirements into HiL test specifications.
• Plan and manage HiL test campaigns, including resource allocation, scheduling, bench assignment, and milestone achievement.
• Oversee the design of proprietary HiL benches.
• Ensure that test cases, procedures, and results are thoroughly documented with traceability to requirements.
• Identify testing deficiencies and maintain relationships with internal tools teams and external HiL vendors.
• Review HiL results, facilitate defect triage, and communicate verification and validation (V&V) status, risks, and findings via dashboards and test reports.
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline with over 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience.
• Extensive experience (generally 6+ years) leading HiL verification and validation on complex engineering systems, including the development of test plans, execution of campaigns, and result reporting.
• Proficient understanding of ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF), and how they pertain to HiL-based verification and validation.
• Experience in defining HiL test strategies and overseeing the creation of test cases with traceability to functional and safety requirements.
• Familiarity with autonomous driving technologies, such as LiDAR, radar, cameras, perception, sensor fusion, and vehicle dynamics.
• Working knowledge of ROS/ROS2 topics, services, actions, system monitoring, and diagnostics.
• Understanding of CAN bus protocols and tools like Vector CANoe and CANalyzer.
• Proficient in Python, CAPL and/or C++, and Git.
• Experience with system-level troubleshooting, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis across integrated hardware and software.
• Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional partners and external vendors, effectively communicating progress and test results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Bonus: experience in contributing to safety cases or safety assurance arguments, HiL tool and bench qualification, fault injection testing, ADAS or autonomous vehicle V&V, correlating HiL results with simulation and track or road testing, and building engineering teams.
