Health Physicist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop complex single-turn prompts related to radiological safety and health physics.

• Categorize prompts as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate whether responses accurately address technical inquiries.

• Craft reference answers and elucidate the technical rationale behind them.

• Conduct red-team exercises on advanced AI models to identify misuse risks in radiological safety contexts.

• Create written justifications that are accessible to non-experts.

• Engage with field-specific misuse scenarios through reading and writing over extended periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven background as an operational health physicist at a DOE facility, national lab, or reactor site, including experience with surveys, assays, and contamination control.

• Expertise as an internal dosimetry or bioassay specialist, covering intake assessments, dose reconstruction, and committed dose evaluations.

• Familiarity with decommissioning and D&D health physics, including characterization surveys, MARSSIM, and release criteria.

• Knowledge in accelerator or reactor health physics, including activation products, neutron fields, and shielding design and verification.

• Experience in dose planning for high-risk operations, including the development of RWPs, ALARA reviews, and operations in hot-cells and gloveboxes.

• Ability to differentiate between routine professional inquiries and questions that may indicate misuse intentions.

• Competent writing skills with the capability to articulate written justifications that are clear to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly desirable.

• Ideally, possess experience in red-teaming.

• Must refrain from using classified or export-controlled information, NDA-covered material, or information subject to prepublication review requirements.
