Health Communications Specialist – II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver expert communications and editorial assistance to OPHDST program managers and team members.

• Improve the quality, clarity, and presentation of multimedia communication materials for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Formulate engagement strategies that align with public health data modernization goals.

• Develop materials to raise awareness about public health data modernization initiatives.

• Create comprehensive communications plans that encompass stakeholders, target audiences, channels, messaging, materials, timelines, and success metrics.

• Produce and distribute communication materials for internal and external use.

• Facilitate external communications with partners, state and local health departments, academic institutions, and other relevant audiences.

• Coordinate the gathering of requirements and the creation of knowledge management tools and mechanisms.

• Share information, resources, and materials among CIOs within OPHDST and with external partners, including state agencies.

• Conduct stakeholder assessments and evaluate program requirements.

• Provide communication consultation services to various divisions, branches, and units within OPHDST.

• Assist in communication strategy, planning, message creation, promotion, and distribution.

• Offer a digital content strategy to boost visibility across both traditional and emerging platforms, including AI engines.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in health communications.

• Proficiency in writing, developing, and editing communication materials, such as brochures, presentations, training documents, Q&A materials, key messages, and reports.

• Experience in disseminating multimedia communication materials to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Background in creating strategic communications plans and assessing activities to gauge performance.

• Familiarity with federal government communications best practices, including 508 compliance, Digital First standards, branding and logo requirements, and other government guidelines is preferred.

• Previous experience collaborating with public health agencies, including CDC staff and partners, as well as STLT health agency personnel, is highly desired.

• Strong health communications skills with the ability to synthesize and distill information into key points, writing in plain language.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a keen eye for detail.

• Capability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple tight deadlines.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

• Eligibility to obtain government clearance.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, both now and in the future.

• A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations, English (writing/editing), public health, or a related field is required.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.

• May need to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
