This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Compose and/or revise technical and scientific documents, including scientific manuscripts, to aid in the interpretation and explanation of a diverse array of topics.
• Customize written materials for distinct audiences with varying levels of interest and comprehension.
• Facilitate the enhancement of technical writing skills among Atlanta-based and field personnel.
• Support the creation and evaluation of documents to guarantee the quality of scientific and technical writing prior to official approval.
• Collaborate with primary authors to negotiate and integrate pre-clearance feedback.
• Assist in overseeing the finalization and approval of publications.
• Perform final assessments for logic, clarity, style, consistency, and formatting in accordance with the intended publication standards.
• Author and disseminate documents that support professional services for online publication.
• At least 5 years of experience in writing, editing, and coordinating scientific, technical, or public health documents.
• A minimum of 2 years of previous experience at the CDC is mandatory.
• Proven expertise in developing and revising scientific manuscripts, peer-reviewed journal articles, technical reports, guidance documents, research protocols, and funding or clearance packages.
• Familiarity with supporting document review, approval, and publication processes.
• Experience collaborating with subject matter experts, researchers, scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, program staff, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous document review cycles and competing deadlines.
• Background in writing, reviewing, and editing both internal and external program communication materials.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom meeting management.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to efficiently manage and respond to numerous requests and priorities.
• Ability to think critically, analyze situations and data, and resolve issues.
• Eligibility to obtain government clearance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
• A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Biomedical Sciences, Health Communications, Technical Writing, or a related scientific field.
• Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and work on a computer.
• May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
