Head of Product, Property Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the property insurance roadmap for Prometheus, focusing on underwriting, accumulation, and portfolio workflows.

• Establish roadmap priorities based on carrier insights and market data.

• Lead the Product team by defining roles, skills, and partnerships; recruit and develop team members.

• Convert carrier workflows into PRDs, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications for Engineering.

• Collaborate with Sales on discovery, demonstrations, and due diligence activities.

• Set criteria for pilot acceptance, evaluate adoption and decision impact post-launch, and facilitate iterations.

• Determine the suitability of hazard, vulnerability, and loss models for carrier and regulatory purposes.

• Manage model inventory, validation approvals, documentation packs, change logs, AI systems usage policy, and responses to inquiries from carriers and regulators.

• Prevent unvalidated model alterations from being deployed into production.

• Establish standards for product specifications, validation processes, and handoff procedures to Engineering.

• Reduce carrier request-to-ship times and enhance pilot acceptance and module expansion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in product management, including at least 4 products directly managed that are utilized by insurance underwriting, actuarial, risk management, or claims teams.

• Proven experience in delivering geospatial, machine learning, or data API products.

• Background in property insurance products at a carrier, MGA, or reinsurer, with active products in the market.

• Held a core-team role on at least one property insurance product through multiple release cycles, demonstrating improved adoption or commercial outcomes across iterations.

• Willingness to travel occasionally as required (approximately 20%).

• Familiarity with property insurance workflows, from submission to binding and renewal processes.

• Understanding of property risk and catastrophe modeling, including concepts such as hazard and vulnerability, AAL and PML, as well as accumulation and treaty limits.

• Knowledge of integrating third-party data with policy administration and rating systems like Guidewire and Duck Creek.

• Experience in model governance, including documentation, independent validation, change control, and regulatory compliance regarding models, data, and AI usage by insurers.

• Insight into geospatial and AI product engineering, including parcel and geocoding accuracy, raster and vector data, spatial indexing (like H3), imagery-derived attributes, model training and validation, and API delivery.

• Proven experience in building and leading product teams, with a track record of hiring product managers and specialists from a global talent pool.

• Capacity to produce precise PRDs with testable acceptance criteria.

• Ability to make decisions based on evidence, even with incomplete information, and take ownership of outcomes.
