Head of Pharmacy IT Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.

📋 Description

• Lead the Pharmacy IT Development organization.

• Set accountability for engineering delivery, architecture, technical quality, and production readiness.

• Define and implement the technology strategy and engineering roadmap for DomaniRx and related pharmacy capabilities.

• Establish engineering standards for architecture, software development, testing, deployment, observability, resiliency, and performance.

• Ensure the platform meets the scale, availability, transaction volumes, and response-time requirements of large health plans and pharmacy programs.

• Propel modernization efforts while preserving existing production stability and integrity.

• Develop a predictable engineering delivery model with commitments, milestones, dependencies, risks, and measurable results.

• Convert business and regulatory requirements into engineering roadmaps and release plans in collaboration with Product leadership.

• Oversee technology execution across major releases, client implementations, migrations, and strategic initiatives.

• Define criteria for release-readiness and production-readiness.

• Identify and address critical-path issues.

• Enhance reliability, deterministic processing, security, and operational resilience.

• Advance automated testing, regression coverage, CI/CD controls, code quality, defect prevention, and engineering observability.

• Ensure safeguards for rollback, recovery, transaction integrity, data consistency, and failure management.

• Collaborate with Operations and Infrastructure on incident containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective measures.

• Utilize engineering and production metrics to spot systemic issues.

• Support pharmacy benefit administration and claims adjudication across Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and other lines of business.

• Address regulatory and industry requirements, including CMS mandates and federally mandated pharmacy changes.

• Promote AI adoption in areas such as requirements analysis, development, testing, defect analysis, documentation, and production support.

• Collaborate with the SS&C Health AI Center of Excellence and the broader SS&C technology organization.

• Own the long-term technical architecture of the Pharmacy platform.

• Minimize technical debt and complexity while enhancing modularity, configurability, and interoperability.

• Ensure APIs, data models, orchestration capabilities, and integration patterns foster an open, modular ecosystem.

• Balance modernization investments with client commitments and commercial priorities.

• Build a high-performing engineering organization and nurture engineering leaders.

• Develop succession plans for critical roles.

• Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, transparency, urgency, and continuous improvement.

• Hold leaders accountable for measurable outcomes, including delivery, stability, quality, scalability, security compliance, technical debt reduction, productivity, AI adoption, client migrations, regulatory readiness, and organizational sustainability.

• Knowledge of CMS mandates and other federally required pharmacy changes.

• Ability to create reusable, configurable capabilities.

• Experience with AI-assisted software development and automation.

• Experience in requirements analysis, software development, testing, defect analysis, documentation, and production support.

• Experience with APIs, data models, orchestration capabilities, and integration patterns.

• Ability to build and lead a high-performing engineering organization.

• Pharmacy domain knowledge, architecture expertise, software engineering capability, quality engineering, and emerging AI skills.
