Head of Engineering, Supply Chain

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical strategy and architecture for software related to inventory, logistics, and repair management.

• Oversee an engineering team of around 25 professionals, including managers, QA, SRE, and Data Engineering personnel.

• Propel the platformization of inventory and supply chain systems that serve millions of terminals.

• Develop solutions that are operationally disciplined, merging operational practices with software systems.

• Establish architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics across various squads.

• Collaborate with business and operational stakeholders to convert requirements into engineering solutions.

• Recruit, mentor, and nurture engineering managers and senior engineers as the team expands to over 30 members.

• Deliver scalable inventory and logistics systems that support millions of devices across multiple countries.

• Create operational data visibility and foster trust across global markets.

• Ensure reliability and data integrity through solid architecture standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15 years of cumulative software engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years leading engineering teams during growth phases.

• 5+ years of practical, production-level experience in writing and deploying Java code.

• At least 5 years of experience in managing managers.

• Extensive hands-on experience in supply chain, inventory, warehouse, or logistics software at scale.

• Experience in fintech or regulated industries.

• Strong backend engineering capabilities for data-intensive, distributed operational systems.

• Proven ability in system design at large scale, managing hundreds of thousands of devices or more.

• Experience in managing and developing engineering teams of 20 or more members.

• Exceptional stakeholder management skills.

• A product-focused approach to solving operational challenges.
