This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform.
• Lead initiatives focused on developer experience, platform reliability, foundational frameworks, and team adoption.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards across various POS device types and OEM manufacturers.
• Functionally guide POS engineers integrated within Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans teams.
• Manage POS observability, which encompasses monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
• Direct architecture efforts for the support, onboarding, governance, and integration of multiple POS device types.
• Collaborate with OEM partners and the POS hardware team on the introduction of new devices.
• Expand and develop the POS platform team through hiring, mentoring, and organizational structuring.
• Translate platform decisions into tangible business impacts in collaboration with Product, Payments, and Business leadership.
• Enhance engineering processes, tooling standards, CI/CD pipelines, and metrics for developer productivity.
• Engage in technical, system design, architectural leadership, and CTO interviews throughout the hiring process.
• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• At least 6 years of experience leading engineering teams through significant growth phases.
• Direct, hands-on experience in building software on Point-of-Sale terminal devices at the application level.
• Strong understanding of EMV standards.
• Experience with payment certification processes such as PCI DSS and P2PE.
• Extensive Android engineering expertise in Kotlin and Java.
• Background in developing internal engineering platforms, shared libraries, developer tools, or foundational frameworks.
• Experience in governing or architecting solutions across multiple POS device types from various hardware manufacturers.
• Proven experience in building or advancing platform engineering functions.
• Capability to scale engineering teams and establish organizational leadership structures.
• Familiarity with working at a company that processes high volumes of financial transactions in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of terminal management systems and device observability tools is a plus.
• Backend engineering experience in Java or Spring Boot is advantageous.
• Experience collaborating directly with OEM vendors is a bonus.
• Exposure to C or C++ is beneficial.
• Background in multinational or large VC-backed companies is preferred.
