This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Take charge of the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform as the domain CTO for POS-device software.
• Establish and oversee developer experience, platform reliability, foundational frameworks, and squad adoption.
• Define and uphold engineering standards across various POS device types and OEM manufacturers.
• Provide functional leadership to POS engineers embedded within Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads.
• Oversee POS observability, which includes monitoring, alerting, and incident-response frameworks.
• Drive the architecture necessary for supporting, onboarding, governing, and integrating multiple POS device types.
• Collaborate with OEM partners and the POS hardware team for new device integrations.
• Build and scale the POS platform team through hiring, mentoring, and organizational structuring.
• Translate platform decisions into business impact in collaboration with Product, Payments, and Business leadership.
• Enhance engineering processes, tooling standards, CI/CD pipelines, and developer productivity metrics.
• Engage in various interview stages including recruiter, technical, system-design, architectural leadership, and CTO interviews.
• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• At least 6 years of experience leading engineering teams through significant growth phases.
• Direct, hands-on experience in developing software on Point-of-Sale terminal devices at the application layer.
• Strong understanding of EMV standards.
• Experience in navigating payment certification processes such as PCI DSS and P2PE.
• Extensive Android engineering expertise in Kotlin and Java.
• Experience in building internal engineering platforms, shared libraries, developer tooling, or foundational frameworks.
• Proficiency in governing or architecting across multiple POS device types from various hardware manufacturers.
• Experience in building or enhancing platform engineering functions.
• Capability to scale engineering teams and develop organizational leadership layers.
• Experience at a company processing high volumes of financial transactions within a regulated environment.
• A fintech background is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with terminal management systems and device observability tooling is advantageous.
• Backend engineering experience in Java or Spring Boot is a significant plus.
• Experience working directly with OEM vendors on hardware specifications and integration is a bonus.
• Exposure to C or C++ is a plus.
• Experience solely at Series A or B stage startups is unlikely to reflect the necessary scale and complexity.
