Head of Engineering – Payment Gateway

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Monnify payment platform across all capability domains.

• Guide several engineering teams through engineering managers, establishing quality benchmarks and enhancing organizational capabilities.

• Oversee the developer experience comprehensively, which includes APIs, documentation, SDKs, and ease of integration.

• Propel the platform's evolution towards multi-currency functionality and international scalability.

• Guarantee platform reliability, scalability, and security within a regulated framework.

• Collaborate with product, commercial, and operations teams to synchronize technical investments with business objectives.

• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate engineering managers and senior engineers.

• Direct payment gateway functionalities across Payment In, Payout, Commerce Tools, and features aimed at developers.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 10 years of experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles within engineering.

• Over 5 years of hands-on, production-level experience in writing and deploying Java as a practicing engineer.

• At least 5 years of experience in managing other managers.

• Background in payments, fintech, or financial services products, with a solid understanding of payment processes and compliance regulations.

• Extensive knowledge of API-first products, developer platforms, and API integration.

• Demonstrated leadership of multiple engineering teams through managers in a growing organization.

• Strong backend engineering expertise in high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.

• Experience in building or managing a payment gateway or multi-currency payment platform is highly advantageous.

• Proficient in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, microservices architecture, and AWS.
