Head of Engineering – Payment Gateway

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the complete technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Monnify platform across all areas of capability.

• Guide multiple engineering teams via engineering managers, establishing quality benchmarks and enhancing organizational capabilities.

• Oversee the entire developer experience, encompassing APIs, documentation, SDKs, and ease of integration.

• Propel the platform's evolution towards multi-currency support and international scalability.

• Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of the platform within a regulated setting.

• Collaborate with product, commercial, and operations teams to align technical investments with business objectives.

• Recruit, mentor, and nurture engineering managers and senior engineers to facilitate growth.

• Engage in recruiting, panel discussions, technical assessments, behavioral interviews, technical interviews, and technical workshops.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 10 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership positions within engineering.

• Over 5 years of practical, production-level experience in writing and deploying Java code as an active engineer.

• At least 5 years of experience in managing managers.

• Background in payments, fintech, or financial service products, along with a solid understanding of payment flows and compliance.

• Extensive knowledge of API-first products, developer platforms, and API integration.

• Demonstrated leadership of multiple engineering teams through managers in a scaling organization.

• Strong backend engineering capabilities in high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.

• Experience in building or operating a payment gateway or multi-currency payment platform is a significant advantage.

• Proficiency in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, microservices architecture, and AWS.
