Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Monnify platform.

• Guide several engineering teams through engineering managers.

• Establish quality benchmarks and enhance organizational capabilities.

• Manage developer experience, encompassing APIs, documentation, SDKs, and ease of integration.

• Propel platform advancement towards multi-currency functionality and international scalability.

• Guarantee platform reliability, scalability, and security within a regulated framework.

• Collaborate with product, commercial, and operations teams to synchronize technical investments with business objectives.

• Recruit, mentor, and nurture engineering managers and senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 5 years in leadership roles within engineering.

• Over 5 years of hands-on, production-level experience in Java as an active engineer.

• At least 5 years of experience in managing managers.

• Background in payments, fintech, or financial services products.

• Functional understanding of payment processes and compliance.

• Extensive knowledge of API-first products, developer platforms, and API integration.

• Demonstrated leadership of multiple engineering teams through managers in a scaling organization.

• Strong backend engineering expertise in high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.

• Experience in building or managing a payment gateway or multi-currency payment platform is a significant advantage.

• Proficient in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, microservices architecture, and AWS.
