This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance Atticus’s media visibility, influencing how clients, law firms, the SSA, policymakers, and thought leaders perceive the company and its influence.

• Take charge of corporate communications and public relations, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

• Create a communications program focused on data journalism and policy-driven storytelling, especially regarding the SSA.

• Coordinate Washington fly-ins and organize Congressional events.

• Foster media relationships to ensure client experiences inform policy discussions.

• Define communication strategy, core messaging, and a 12-month editorial calendar.

• Establish the operational framework for communications.

• Formulate an earned media strategy to secure coverage in major publications and relevant trade outlets.

• Spearhead policy newsjacking and rapid response initiatives, providing commentary, data, spokespeople, and op-eds.

• Assist with Congressional briefings, roundtables, and hill events.

• Oversee CEO and leadership positioning, thought leadership initiatives, and crisis management preparedness.

• Manage public relations and public affairs agencies.

• Collaborate with Policy, Legal, Product, and Growth teams.

• Direct media strategy, content calendars, approval processes, messaging frameworks, and performance assessments.

• Recruit and develop the communications team as needed.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in communications.

• Significant background in a policy-related environment such as advocacy, government, a regulated industry, a mission-driven consumer brand, or a firm serving such clients.

• Proven track record of successful earned media results achieved through data and original insights.

• Experience in organizing fly-ins, staging Congressional events, collaborating with hill staff, and advancing policy narratives in Washington.

• Strong writing and editing capabilities for various formats, including reporter pitches, CEO op-eds, internal memos, and talking points.

• Ability to coordinate efforts among agencies, Legal, Policy, executives, and Growth teams.

• Fluency in government affairs, including an understanding of Congress and federal agency operations.

• Established relationships in Washington or the ability to cultivate them swiftly.

• Genuine empathy for the populations served.

• Comfort in a data-driven, performance-oriented culture.
