
Hard Surface Artist – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design clean, stylized, and precise box-modeled hard-surface shapes.
• Develop hero props, weapons, vehicles, character armor, and various game assets.
• Construct game-ready low-poly meshes.
• Generate proper and efficient UV layouts.
• Create LOD assets that are optimized for real-time engines, particularly with a focus on Unreal Engine.
• Implement appropriate topology, baking, rig-ready practices, and game optimization techniques.
• Utilize Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and Unreal for game-art asset development.
• Craft PBR materials from scratch using Substance Painter and/or Substance Designer.
• Produce exceptional textures and shading.
• Collaborate with P4V and maintain optimized game-ready pipelines.
• Assist in bringing characters and their arsenal to life for Bladework Games' online ARPG.
• Highly skilled in Maya, ZBrush, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter.
• Over 3 years of experience in the game industry.
• At least one completed title.
• Strong capabilities in both high- and low-poly modeling.
• Proven expertise in quality texture baking.
• Understanding of architectural and engineering fundamentals.
• Familiarity with PBR materials and lighting techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• A web portfolio showcasing high-quality 3D rendered samples and 2D texture art.
• Portfolio should include examples of lit interiors and exteriors.
• A diverse portfolio featuring both hard surface and organic models.
• Samples from prior industry work.
• Experience with Unreal Engine is advantageous.
• Strong skills in concept development are a plus.
• Basic knowledge of color theory is a plus.
• Understanding of effective composition principles is a plus.
• Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving abilities are a plus.
