Group Public Affairs & Engagement Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Formulate strategies for stakeholder engagement by identifying key stakeholders and cultivating impactful relationships across government, political spheres, industry, and environmental organizations.

• Develop and advocate for Biffa’s policy stances by collaborating with business leaders, creating advocacy materials, and assisting with consultation responses.

• Promote Biffa’s public image by highlighting its contributions to the circular economy, waste sector decarbonization, and sustainable waste management practices.

• Keep track of political and regulatory changes to pinpoint emerging risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights for business strategies.

• Act as Biffa’s representative in external settings, including industry bodies, trade associations, conferences, and stakeholder events.

• Oversee stakeholder communications and engagement through events, briefings, and presentations.

• Assist in reputation management and issues handling with Strategic Communications concerning government-related crisis communications.

• Evaluate public affairs activities against industry best practices.

• Manage external public affairs collaborations, including the relationship with Biffa and Company Shop Group’s Public Affairs agency.

• Demonstrated experience in developing stakeholder engagement strategies, fostering influential relationships, and managing external agencies.

• Familiarity with the UK political landscape, governmental processes, and parliamentary procedures.

• Exceptional communication and influencing abilities.

• Proficient in creating persuasive written content, presenting confidently, and simplifying complex policy issues for varied audiences.

• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Capacity to evaluate policy developments and recognize business risks and opportunities.
