Group Legal Counsel

📋 Description

• Act as the principal legal advisor and strategic partner for Aczel Group.

• Collaborate with the Group Leader, Group Team, and BU General Managers on matters related to commercial, contractual, legal, strategy, and risk.

• Engage in strategy reviews, deal evaluations, and significant initiatives at both group and BU levels.

• Offer legal, contract, and general risk assessments to business leaders and BU legal teams.

• Lead a team of legal professionals and contract managers across six distinct business units.

• Guarantee the quality, consistency, and efficiency of legal support across the group.

• Promote shared tools, processes, best practices, and automated legal processes throughout the business units.

• Advocate for the adoption and enhancement of HighQ and essential AI tools within the legal department.

• Enforce and refine policies, governance documents, and procedures.

• Foster legal talent through performance management, career frameworks, personalized development plans, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring.

• Collaborate on talent evaluations, compensation benchmarking, and recruitment for legal and contract management positions.

• Oversee group compliance and quarterly reporting responsibilities.

• Provide continuous legal support for contracts, litigation, high-risk issues, and multi-BU matters.

• Coordinate the work of contract managers and offer supplementary legal support across business units.

• Assist with M&A diligence, negotiation of purchase agreements, integration, and legal resource allocation.

• Collaborate with Modaxo’s General Counsel on global M&A activities and initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leading legal functions across diverse business units.

• Demonstrated experience advising senior business leaders on legal, commercial, contractual, and risk-related issues.

• Proficient in handling commercial contracts, litigation, compliance, governance, employment law, and intellectual property matters.

• Experience in managing teams of lawyers and contract managers.

• Skilled in developing legal talent, career frameworks, succession planning, and performance management systems.

• Experience in implementing legal tools, automated processes, and contract workflows.

• Background in supporting mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, negotiation of purchase agreements, and integration.

• Capability to establish and oversee external specialized legal support.

• Proficiency in managing compliance and quarterly reporting duties.

• Ability to lead legal risk reviews and escalations.

• Familiarity with HighQ and mandatory AI tools adoption is required or expected within the legal function.
