This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Montana, +1 more state.
• Design and implement a robust grassroots advocacy initiative throughout Montana and Wyoming.
• Attract, nurture, engage, and retain volunteer leaders and participants.
• Create and execute grassroots strategies and campaign plans aligned with local, state, and federal legislative priorities.
• Assist volunteers in fundraising efforts and help them achieve their fundraising objectives.
• Craft personalized communications, including emails for volunteers, legislative alerts, issue talking points, and training materials.
• Organize and oversee Cancer Action lobby days and similar virtual or in-person events.
• Manage ACS CAN web pages, Facebook pages, and other social media platforms.
• Identify and cultivate volunteers who have personal stories related to policy campaigns.
• Oversee the volunteer structure, fill open positions, and ensure adequate capacity across the region.
• Coordinate state legislative campaigns utilizing Direct-Action Organizing principles.
• Collaborate with coalition partners and regional and national ACS CAN teams on campaigns.
• Represent ACS CAN and its mission in line with organizational brand standards.
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborations.
• Lead electoral activities through Cancer Votes while complying with IRS and ACS CAN legal and reporting requirements.
• Recruit, train, develop, communicate with, and acknowledge volunteers.
• Foster relationships with elected officials, legislative staff, coalitions, partners, and diverse communities.
• Train volunteers and ACS staff for effective interactions with elected officials and their staff.
• Maintain volunteer data in databases like Salesforce.
• Drive volunteer fundraising and support volunteer-driven events, including Lights of Hope, policy forums, and other fundraising initiatives.
• Complete assigned administrative tasks and adhere to ACS CAN policies and guidelines.
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
• Preferred experience in political issues or campaign organizing.
• Experience in attracting, developing, and engaging volunteers is preferred.
• Fundraising experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Every Action, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of Direct Action Organizing is beneficial.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, computer, and social media skills are essential.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities are required.
• Proven capability to manage multiple projects, work independently with minimal supervision, and function as a team member or leader.
• Demonstrated ability to handle fast-paced, time-sensitive issues with internal and external stakeholders.
• Capability to establish, conduct meetings, and maintain effective working relationships with state and federal legislative officials.
• Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and communities.
• Capacity to complete work across various venues and state political environments efficiently and accurately.
• Proficient in utilizing available technology to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel by car, train, or plane as necessary.
• Ability to travel regularly and work within Montana and Wyoming communities as needed.
• Travel may require up to 20%, including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel.
