Government Capture Lead – Defense, Federal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the Phase III strategy for the Air Force SBIR, encompassing sponsor identification, funding sources, contracting pathways, and timelines.

• Identify and assess new opportunities across SBIR/STTR, OTAs, CSOs, prize challenges, and defense logistics and depot commands.

• Make informed bid or no-bid determinations.

• Manage proposals from start to finish, ensuring compliance, developing win themes, providing pricing input, and guaranteeing timely submissions.

• Cultivate partnerships with prime contractors and integrators.

• Ensure that the pipeline, SAM.gov registration, and compliance standards are up-to-date, including CMMC, Section 889, ITAR, and Buy American requirements.

• Translate customer needs into clear requests for engineering teams.

• Oversee the capture process from the initial identification of an opportunity through to the signed award.

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in DoD capture, proposals, or contracting.

• A proven track record of securing SBIR Phase III awards or follow-on production contracts (named awards).

• Background in a small defense-tech company or experience in facilitating growth for one.

• Ability to produce proposals and briefings that prompt action from senior government officials.

• Strong commitment to procurement integrity and adherence to ethical standards.

• Willingness to travel 25–40% of the time.

• Preferred experience in logistics, depot maintenance, or operations with the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) or DLA.

• Familiarity with robotics, autonomy, or material handling is preferred.

• Experience with GSA schedules and DCAA-compliant pricing is preferred.
