Global Procurement Category Lead – Engineering and Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead multiple global Category Management teams within the CSL Group.

• Supervise the development and execution of category management strategies aimed at maximizing value, managing risk, and ensuring procurement compliance.

• Formulate plans that align with CSL's Global and Procurement Strategy.

• Create and implement global category strategies specifically for Engineering and Construction categories.

• Promote total cost of ownership and risk mitigation while enhancing innovation, customer service, compliance, and quality.

• Collaborate with business units to resolve complex problems, conduct investigative data analytics, reengineer processes, and support sustainable global programs.

• Spearhead projects that involve the redesign of global strategies, business models, and operational methodologies.

• Achieve year-over-year financial enhancements and operational excellence.

• Define and implement category management strategies and establish/manage councils for commodities critical to the business.

• Oversee key sourcing activities, including negotiations, to enhance cost, risk, quality, and supply performance.

• Conduct complex negotiations with major suppliers and provide guidance on regional sourcing.

• Ensure ethical business conduct and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, anti-bribery requirements, and supplier diversity goals.

• Establish and manage Supplier Relationship Management processes, supplier segmentation, and risk management strategies.

• Enforce global procedures to ensure sourcing compliance with CSL policies and standards.

• Adhere to CSL Supplier Risk Management policies and utilize related tools.

• Monitor supply performance KPIs and conduct regular operational reviews, including analysis and reporting from the Centre of Excellence.

• Lead, inspire, develop, and manage the performance of Procurement employees, emphasizing talent development and succession planning.

• Foster relationships with senior internal stakeholders and external vendor executives.

• Manage supplier performance, address issues, oversee procurement improvement initiatives, and handle broader business concerns.

• Lead and engage in global transformation and continuous improvement efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.

• A postgraduate business degree, particularly an MBA, is highly regarded.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in strategic sourcing, relevant sourcing experience, or equivalent experience in engineering and construction management.

• At least 2 years of senior leadership experience, preferably leading a global team.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing global teams.

• Excellent communication and influencing abilities, capable of navigating ambiguity and building relationships.

• Strong understanding of the A&E/EPC/EPCM, CQV/CSV categories and their business implications.

• Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry or a related sector is preferred but not essential.

• A basic strategic mindset; inquisitive, comfortable with uncertainty, and self-motivated to identify trends and improvement opportunities that align with business objectives and strategic plans.

• Strong executive presence, proven leadership and collaboration skills, with the capability to build effective relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and lead global teams effectively.

• Strong project management skills, including task planning, resource allocation, progress management, barrier removal, change management, conflict resolution, consensus building, and team motivation across multiple concurrent projects.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages, present information clearly and concisely, engage audiences, manage change, resolve conflict, and build consensus.

• Solid knowledge of Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Relationship Management.

• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and collaborate effectively across various functions and organizational levels.

• Willingness and capability to travel domestically as required (10–30%) and internationally as required (10–20%).
