Global Process Safety Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee the Process Safety Management Program for the organization.

• Assist manufacturing sites in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Process Safety initiatives.

• Create and sustain a Process Safety Audit program.

• Assess or provide guidance on third-party audit recommendations concerning Process Safety.

• Establish and maintain Process Safety Knowledge Management systems, including training programs and the sharing of best practices.

• Offer Process Safety input for operating procedures, Maintenance, Engineering, and Contractor management protocols.

• Conduct and facilitate Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and take charge of addressing PHA recommendations.

• Conduct and support Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and lead the resolution of LOPA recommendations.

• Act as the business expert for advanced process safety hazard topics, including Facility Siting Analysis and Quantitative Risk Analysis.

• Provide guidance to site process safety engineers and Site Management regarding process safety regulatory requirements and enhancements.

• Lead and assist in investigations of process safety incidents and near misses.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) procedures.

• Develop and deliver PSM-related training and training packages.

• Advise site Engineering departments on Engineering Standards and design considerations.

• Collaborate with business engineering partners on technology matters that impact Process Safety.

• Counsel Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations on Safety Instrumentation Systems (SIS).

• Guide Management and HSES on Process Safety regulatory requirements and concerns.

• Manage Flexsys’s relationship with insurance providers (FM Global).

• Report directly to the Global HSES Manager.

• Strong passion for Process Safety.

• Familiarity with chemical plant operations.

• Robust technical background.

• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, Seveso, etc.).

• Driven by technical and analytical tasks.

• Ability to comprehend and assist in interpreting local legislation.

• Self-motivated, capable of working autonomously and prioritizing tasks efficiently.

• Strong project management capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.

• Proficient in articulating ideas effectively in both individual and group contexts.

• Communicates proficiently at all organizational levels.

• Capable of organizing and conveying ideas clearly and effectively in written formats.

• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a chemical manufacturing setting with foundational exposure to Process Safety Management.

• At least 5 years in a Process Safety role within an OSHA PSM covered chemical industry with increasing responsibilities.

• Enhanced training or knowledge in process safety (e.g., SIS design, leading PHA’s, conducting LOPA’s, consequence modeling, facility siting, leading RCA’s).

• Availability for domestic and international travel, up to 35%.
