GIS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Support daily technical operations for GIS production projects.

• Lead or participate in the daily technical coordination of GIS projects.

• Facilitate technical workshops focused on data modeling, migration, and conversion.

• Engage with client management and technical teams.

• Assist in the preparation and delivery of client presentations.

• Document technical procedures necessary for project requirements.

• Supervise GIS project teams across one or multiple initiatives.

• Delegate tasks to project teams and monitor their progress.

• Manage and update project status and progress.

• Communicate any issues to project and technical management teams.

• Conduct quality control for GIS project data.

• Review project proposals and technical documentation.

• Liaise with clients concerning technical project specifications.

• Develop technical methodologies for project execution.

• Participate in industry committees.

• Lead, design, create, and implement business intelligence initiatives utilizing PowerQuery, Tableau, Python, and PowerBI.

• Act as the primary technical lead for scheduling, scope, and budget formulation for project bids and RFP responses.

• Train GIS production personnel on technical specifications.

• Execute advanced GIS tasks for pipeline GIS projects.

• Fulfill other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside within the United States.

• Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS), Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent relevant technical experience.

• 4-6 years of experience with ArcGIS/GIS, focusing on geoprocessing tasks.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Extensive knowledge of the ESRI software suite.

• Experience with ArcPro version 3.1 or higher.

• Advanced skills in geoprocessing using ModelBuilder/ArcToolbox.

• Familiarity with ArcSDE.

• Comprehensive understanding of pipeline GIS practices, including Linear Referencing (using the Esri APR toolset).

• Proficiency with FME.

• Knowledge of data modeling best practices.

• Strong skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Understanding of PODS and UPDM data models.

• Familiarity with the utility sector and midstream industry.

• Capability to lead others in diverse and complex tasks.

• Ability to efficiently plan and manage work under stress and time constraints.

• Skill in explaining the rationale and methodology of tasks within a broader organizational context.

• Proficiency in designing and executing tasks required for pipeline GIS projects.

• Ability to communicate effectively and train GIS staff on technical requirements.

• Competence in technical writing and producing effective technical reports.

• Familiarity with database dictionaries, logical diagrams, business processes, and proposal documentation.

• Ability to interact with employees and management at all levels.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Must be flexible and willing to work in various locations throughout the United States.
