GIS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Lead or support the daily technical coordination for GIS projects.

• Facilitate technical workshops focused on data modeling and migration/conversion.

• Engage with client management and technical teams.

• Aid in the creation and delivery of client presentations.

• Document the technical practices necessary for project requirements.

• Supervise GIS project teams across one or multiple projects.

• Manage and track project status and progress.

• Communicate issues to project and technical management teams.

• Conduct quality control for GIS project data.

• Evaluate project proposals and technical documents.

• Interface with clients regarding their technical project requirements.

• Provide and develop technical procedures for project execution.

• Participate in industry committees.

• Lead, design, develop, and implement business intelligence initiatives utilizing Power Query, Tableau, Python, and Power BI.

• Act as the primary technical lead for schedule, scope, and budget development for project bids and RFP responses.

• Train GIS production staff on technical requirements.

• Execute higher-level GIS tasks for pipeline GIS projects.

• Complete additional assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside within the United States.

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent relevant technical experience.

• 4-6 years of experience with ArcGIS/GIS, focusing on geoprocessing tasks.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Extensive knowledge of the ESRI suite.

• Experience with ArcPro 3.1 or later.

• Advanced skills in geoprocessing, ModelBuilder, and ArcToolbox.

• Familiarity with ArcSDE.

• Comprehensive understanding of pipeline GIS practices, including Linear Referencing using the Esri APR toolset.

• Knowledge of FME.

• Expertise in data modeling best practices.

• Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Understanding of PODS and UPDM data models.

• Insight into the utility and midstream sectors.

• Capability to lead others in diverse and complex tasks.

• Ability to efficiently plan and manage work while performing well under stress and time constraints.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Competence in designing and executing tasks required for pipeline GIS projects.

• Ability to communicate and train GIS staff on technical requirements.

• Skills in technical writing and report development.

• Familiarity with database dictionaries, logical diagrams, business processes, and proposal documentation.

• Ability to engage with all levels of employees and management.

• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Must be flexible and able to work in various locations across the United States.
