GIS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Process, evaluate, and validate hydrographic and topographic survey data within a GIS framework

• Generate and ensure quality control of deconflicted bathymetric products

• Update the bathymetry model as new data sources and processes become accessible

• Standardize, enhance, and refine documentation supporting the NBS program

• Develop, automate, and streamline workflows related to hydrography, physics, and geodesy

• Assist NOAA's Office of Coast Survey National Bathymetric Source Team

• Collaborate with NBS Operations and Development teams on infrastructure and workflow design, enhancement, and implementation

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, marine science, oceanography, physics, a related field, or equivalent (education equivalency: 4 years of professional experience)

• 3-5 years of expertise in data analysis, GIS, and data management methodologies

• Proficiency with software applications such as Python, PostgreSQL, QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or CARIS

• Programming skills in Python

• Experience in analyzing, planning, acquiring, integrating, and disseminating ocean and coastal geospatial data and related products

• Familiarity with developing mapping standards and techniques

• Proven ability to enhance data management and accessibility

• Must possess eligibility to work in the United States; Lynker participates in E-Verify
