Gift Planning Officer – Tennessee Region

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and oversee a gift-planning strategy for a portfolio of prospects across the Tennessee and Mississippi/Alabama Regions.

• Design, direct, and execute initiatives to significantly boost membership in the Legacy Society.

• Maintain and improve stewardship programs for donors of planned gifts.

• Elevate and promote the profile of the Legacy Society.

• Provide gift-planning training to enhance knowledge and foster opportunities in discussions about gifts and strategy development.

• Stay updated on trends in gift planning and fundraising techniques through participation in meetings, conferences, and training programs.

• Offer technical support to regional development teams to enhance fundraising capabilities for planned and current gifts.

• Collaborate with financial and estate-planning associations to arrange meetings that position the Red Cross as the charity of choice.

• Assist with the regional reporting of estate documents to the Office of General Counsel.

• Maintain regular communication with the Director of Gift Planning regarding donor and gift activities.

• Utilize the development prospect-management system for tracking donor and gift activity, as well as for managing fundraising and personal objectives.

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and manage relationships with gift-planning prospects and donors.

• Formulate strategies to enhance funding capacity and optimize donor relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is essential.

• At least five years of experience in major gift or gift planning fundraising, with a proven track record in cultivation and solicitation, is preferred.

• Experience in promoting and managing gift planning programs is highly advantageous.

• Candidates with backgrounds in financial, estate, philanthropic planning, law, and trust administration are encouraged to apply.

• Familiarity with the technical aspects of planned giving vehicles is required.

• Comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles and techniques in a large organizational context.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, negotiation, and strong interpersonal abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

• Proven tact and diplomacy in challenging or sensitive situations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Training in PG Calc or Crescendo planned giving software is a plus.

• Operational adaptability to address sudden and unpredictable business requirements.

• Moderate travel (20%-30%) is necessary.

• A valid driver’s license and personal transportation are mandatory.

• Significant experience in gift planning within Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama is advantageous.

• Certification in CFRE, CFP, CAP, J.D., or LLM is highly preferred.
