Genetic Counselor – Telehealth

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver independent genetic counseling services to Veterans and their families through telehealth platforms.

• Assess hereditary risks by reviewing medical records.

• Gather personal, medical, environmental, and family histories.

• Inform patients about inheritance patterns, recurrence risks, screening choices, and preventive measures for diseases.

• Recommend and initiate suitable genetic testing.

• Analyze and convey genetic test findings.

• Record all clinical activities in the electronic medical record system.

• Collaborate with medical providers, colleagues, and laboratories.

• Create educational materials and support initiatives for the genetic counseling program.

• Engage in quality improvement activities and attend related meetings.

• Typically work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).

• Hold an active, full, and unrestricted medical practice license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

• No record of suspended, revoked, restricted, or surrendered professional licenses.

• Current AHA BLS certification is required.

• Provide an NPI report printout.

• Must possess an active DEA license.

• Ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation.

• Capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulders during work hours.

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist level.

• Competent in lifting up to 20 lbs.

• Can carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.

• Capable of pushing or pulling with a force of 30 lbs.

• Must have resided continuously in the United States for three years prior to appointment at a federal facility.
