This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Formulate strategic direction and oversee non-timber revenue-generating initiatives on client properties.

• Create and monetize non-timber revenue sources across all client lands.

• Identify new business opportunities while managing financial and environmental project risks.

• Supervise transactions exceeding $100MM annually throughout North America.

• Guide the development of team members’ skills and capabilities.

• Manage and implement projects aimed at increasing revenue streams on client properties.

• Report directly to the President of MFM.

• Develop opportunities consistent with the principle that “Good Stewardship is Good Business.”

• Lead a VAS team comprising four direct reports across North America.

• Regularly engage with Portfolio Management and Client Services, Global Resources and Planning, Operations, and Accounting teams.

• Uphold client fiduciary responsibilities.

• Prioritize the safety of individuals and environmental stewardship.

• Maintain robust service-oriented relationships with MFM and MIMT personnel.

• Address information and communication needs for multiple regional teams.

• Provide leadership for approximately nine employees.

• Formulate and implement a recreation strategy.

• Oversee value-added revenue initiatives such as carbon and wetland mitigation banks, mineral and aggregate sales, water filtration/storage, pine straw, and renewable energy.

• Cultivate internal personnel to recognize non-core revenue opportunities.

• Ensure safety, stewardship, SFI® and FSC® compliance, marketing, planning, recreational use, and protection for non-core revenue initiatives.

• Manage asset management activities, including acquisitions and dispositions.

• Lead stakeholder engagement, public relations, regulatory, industry, and governmental communications.

• Assist in the development and implementation of policies.

• Supervise regional client accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, financial accounting, debt management, and cash flow.

• Collaborate with the Resource Support Team on forest inventory, forest planning, and modeling interfaces.

• Participate in regional industry associations and committees.

• Perform additional assigned responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in the environmental field or equivalent experience is mandatory.

• A graduate degree in an environmental-related discipline or business management is highly preferred.

• Experience working with agencies overseeing non-core revenue projects, such as wetland mitigation banks.

• At least ten (10) years of combined experience in environmental project management.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of organizational management and leadership experience within a sizable organization.

• Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate across various functions, and work effectively in a self-directed setting.

• Exceptional relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Strong analytical, financial, and technological competencies.

• Proficient asset management skills.

• Customer service-oriented mindset.

• Adherence to federal, state, and local laws, along with organizational policies and procedures.
