This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Lead the Surgical Product Division at Owens & Minor, encompassing drapes and gowns, sterilization, general surgical products, and kitting.
• Manage the divisional P&L, market strategy, product portfolio, pricing, commercial execution, and operational discipline.
• Drive growth in revenue, expand margins, manage portfolio lifecycles, develop a customer-focused market strategy, and oversee below-the-line impacts excluding manufacturing costs.
• Act as the principal business and commercial thought leader for the division, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
• Ensure the business meets top-line goals while maintaining P&L accountability across multiple business lines.
• Create and implement commercial strategies, prioritizing markets, products, and services based on growth and profitability metrics.
• Increase wallet share with existing clients while entering priority markets and channels.
• Lead management of portfolio and lifecycle, introduce new products, rationalize SKUs, position brands, and expand margins in both domestic and international markets.
• Oversee market development, geographic expansion, investment decisions, and assessment of M&A opportunities.
• Direct the Sales, Product Management, Marketing Services, E-Commerce, and Pricing & Contracting teams across direct, distributor, and online channels.
• Enhance commercial capabilities through customer segmentation, insights into customer journeys, voice-of-customer methodologies, and strategies for pricing, contracting, rebates, and chargebacks.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, Regulatory, Strategic Sourcing, Value Engineering, and other teams.
• Represent the business to both internal and external stakeholders, co-managing relationships with government agencies, customers, and distributors.
• Navigate through complex regulatory environments.
• Establish product governance, decision-making rights, RACI frameworks, stage gates, initiative management, review schedules, and trusted common data/KPIs.
• Align teams with business strategies and demonstrate leadership commitment to quality and environmental management systems.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; a concentration in Sales & Marketing, Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare, or a related field is preferred.
• A graduate degree in a relevant area is preferred.
• At least 15 years of commercial healthcare experience, including supply chain, pharmacy, healthcare products or services, B2B sales, account management, or related fields.
• Proven track record in leading diversified commercial teams, including sales, marketing, planning, communication, organization, and people management.
• Experience in launching product categories in both domestic and global markets.
• Familiarity with QA/RA issues in the healthcare sector.
• Success in market development within the medical device, healthcare products, pharmaceutical, or related industries, including the ability to open new market opportunities.
• Regional experience with a history of business growth across multiple markets.
• Knowledge of market dynamics and cultural competencies beyond the home country.
• Strong sales and marketing abilities, with a proven capacity to enhance sales execution supported by strategic marketing.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including P&L fluency, profitability analysis, scenario planning, and trade-off decision-making.
• Senior leadership experience in a matrix organizational structure.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally.
