General Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a trusted legal advisor to the organization, identifying and addressing legal challenges while structuring relationships with third parties.

• Conduct research, interpret, and provide guidance on state regulatory requirements impacting the title insurance and mortgage sectors.

• Create clear and practical advice in intricate or unfamiliar areas.

• Assist with corporate development, financing, and other strategic initiatives.

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements related to product and service delivery as well as procurement.

• Offer legal expertise on specific title matters and evaluate associated risks.

• Collaborate with Compliance leadership on regulatory matters and complex risk inquiries.

• Oversee the management of the company's intellectual property portfolio.

• Choose and manage relationships with outside counsel.

• Mentor and develop internal team members involved in contract review and other legal issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• J.D. degree and active bar admission.

• Extensive experience providing counsel to businesses on commercial, regulatory, and general corporate issues.

• Strong understanding of residential title and mortgage transactions.

• Experience functioning as a comprehensive, hands-on business lawyer in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

• Ability to collaborate across various disciplines, tackle unfamiliar questions, and offer guidance that extends beyond a narrow legal focus.

• Proven judgment in evaluating risks and managing ambiguity.

• Previous experience in a high-paced, high-growth, or entrepreneurial organization.

• Strong history of effectively managing relationships with outside counsel.
