Full Stack Developer – Shopify, Hydrogen

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold fully customized Shopify Hydrogen storefronts utilizing React Router, incorporating intricate commerce functionalities and headless integrations.

• Create responsive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and contemporary React; take ownership of frontend performance across all storefronts.

• Oversee the transition from legacy frontends (one Shopify Liquid, two Django-based) to Hydrogen, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to business operations.

• Diagnose and enhance the complete data flow from React components through GraphQL to backend systems.

• Expand and maintain Python/Django code that drives GraphQL API integrations between Shopify and our internal PIM/ERP/CRM monolith.

• Develop custom middleware and integrations when standard Shopify functionalities do not align with our headless architecture (e.g., custom feed generators for syndication, Algolia reindexing logic).

• Adjust data exchange layers and API endpoints as business demands change.

• Navigate and improve the monolithic Django codebase without disrupting existing features.

• Manage software-defined infrastructure for Hydrogen deployments—establish CI/CD pipelines, configure environments, and automate releases to Oxygen or comparable edge platforms.

• Take responsibility for the deployment toolchain from local development to production.

• Resolve deployment and infrastructure challenges across the stack.

• Convert vague business requests ("we need Pinterest syndication," "can we modify how search operates?") into technical solutions—determining if this requires a quick adjustment, custom integration, or architectural deliberation.

• Recognize when requirements impact core architecture, necessitate substantial data migrations, or involve business implications that require CTO consultation; escalate thoughtfully rather than routinely.

• Convey technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders without being condescending or excessively technical.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, and modern React.

• Practical experience with Shopify Hydrogen (React Router-based), Storefront API, and headless commerce architecture.

• Strong Python capabilities with Django experience; adept at navigating monolithic codebases and API integrations.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deploying to serverless/edge platforms.

• Experience with Shopify's GraphQL APIs (Admin and Storefront); capable of writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries.

• Proven ability to self-manage on defined technical tasks while recognizing the need to escalate ambiguous requirements or architectural choices.

• Excellent English communication skills; able to explain technical constraints to non-technical team members effectively.

• Availability for full-time work (40 hours/week).
