Front End Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead a geographically dispersed team of engineers focused on enhancing the Firefox Desktop experience.

• Spearhead initiatives aimed at delivering software that is high-quality, highly available, monitored, and maintainable.

• Assist the team in balancing trade-offs while aligning quick delivery with thoughtful long-term strategies across browser user experiences.

• Articulate team objectives, project scope, and risks, while taking ownership of initiative delivery within defined timelines.

• Identify, develop, and refine engineering processes that support a high-performing team.

• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings addressing technical tasks and professional growth.

• Provide straightforward and constructive performance feedback.

• Support and empower developers throughout the entire developer lifecycle.

• Foster an inclusive atmosphere that engages and challenges team members.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Science teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years leading engineers in a software development setting while working with multiple distributed teams.

• A software engineering background that facilitates technical decision-making and effective engagement with engineers at all levels for triaging, prioritizing, and implementing solutions.

• Experience managing several concurrent projects.

• Prior experience with frontend platform initiatives such as design systems and improvements to frontend architecture.

• Proven history of delivering front-end experiences for user-facing products.

• Practical experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Demonstrated success in leading and launching sophisticated user-facing experiences on schedule, utilizing data to guide timelines.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to cultivate positive relationships.

• Capability to resolve issues, manage risks, lead change, and facilitate collaborative decision-making.

• Experience in communicating with senior leadership and advocating for engineering priorities.

• A desire to grow and learn as a manager, develop others, and achieve results through the team.

• Ability to hire, mentor, empower, develop, and delegate responsibilities to team members across different locations.
