
Forward Deployed Engineer – Service Provider OSS/BSS Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the two-way technical intermediary between Service Providers, sovereign partners, and Cisco's SSE product management and engineering teams.
• Convey technical insights, API limitations, delivery schedules, and platform roadmap considerations to partners.
• Integrate partner OSS/BSS architecture, multi-tenancy requirements, business implications, and operational limitations into discussions within Cisco engineering and product teams.
• Manage intricate escalations and challenges related to multi-tenant integration.
• Convert changing requirements into API contracts, data models, and delivery strategies.
• Develop and implement middleware and integration solutions that connect partner systems with Cisco platforms.
• Lead technical integration efforts across workflows including ordering, onboarding, provisioning, identity, policy, billing, and reporting.
• Design and verify multi-tenant identity and organizational frameworks, which encompass hierarchical tenants, RBAC/ABAC inheritance, precedence rules, and backward-compatible migrations.
• Create and validate REST APIs, OAuth2/token-federation flows, as well as reliable, retryable, idempotent onboarding and provisioning workflows across Cisco Cloud Control and Secure Access APIs.
• Design event-driven and webhook integrations featuring pub/sub, retry/backoff mechanisms, HMAC verification, stable schemas, and automation based on triggers.
• Collaborate with billing and platform engineering on usage metering, telemetry pipelines, billing-period rollups, and the reconciliation of usage-to-invoice.
• Establish policy-as-code and configuration-management standards.
• Construct or specify workflow orchestration across independently versioned APIs, inclusive of correlation IDs and partial-failure recovery.
• Oversee integration readiness, configuration and policy consistency, regression testing, and the prevention of recurring incidents.
• Develop engineering escalations detailing timelines, impact, reproduction steps, logs, and redacted configurations, while communicating results to partners.
• Program and script integrations, diagnostics, health checks, automation, and environment reproduction utilizing AI-assisted development best practices.
• Collaborate globally across various regions and time zones with Service Providers, sovereign partners, product management, and distributed engineering teams.
• At least 7 years of experience in security, cloud platform engineering, or integration roles with direct customer or partner ownership.
• Hands-on experience with REST API design, OAuth2/token-based authentication, and webhook or event-driven integration architectures.
• Proficient in multi-tenant identity and organizational data modeling, as well as RBAC/ABAC design.
• Practical software development, scripting, or middleware integration background.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical domain, or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred: Experience in integrating with Service Provider OSS/BSS systems.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting large Service Provider, sovereign, or telecommunications accounts.
• Preferred: Familiarity with usage-based or MSLA billing models and metering or stream-processing pipelines like Kafka or EventBridge.
• Preferred: Experience with API-driven workflow orchestration, durable execution, or saga-pattern implementations.
• Preferred: Knowledge of observability platforms such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, or similar tools.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud infrastructure, multi-tenant resource pooling, capacity planning, or cloud cost optimization.
• Preferred: Proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools.
• Preferred: Previous experience managing Cisco on-premises and cloud security products in production partner settings.
