Forward Deployed Engineer – P2P Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design and develop sophisticated synchronization and networking systems to ensure dependable AI operations across edge devices and isolated government cloud environments.

• Architect data synchronization solutions utilizing content-addressable storage, Merkle trees, and Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs).

• Spearhead performance optimization, debugging, and fine-tuning of distributed software in environments with limited resources and intermittent connectivity.

• Implement a security-first design approach through threat modeling, secure key management, and the use of cryptographic protocols and primitives.

• Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deploy and integrate AI components within restricted or air-gapped systems.

• Participate in cross-functional architectural design discussions and provide documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Uphold testing, observability, and validation practices to ensure system reliability and compliance readiness.

• Engage with concepts of distributed systems including distributed hash tables, content identifiers, gossip protocols, Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), overlay networks, and NAT traversal.

• Travel 25-50% to various office locations and government field and testing sites.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-10+ years of experience, depending on leveling, in backend systems programming languages such as C++, C, Go, or Rust.

• Proficient in peer-to-peer or decentralized networking frameworks.

• Active U.S. Security Clearance is required.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Development will primarily be conducted in Rust; candidates lacking Rust experience can learn while engaging with the systems.

• Willingness to travel 25-50% to webAI office locations and government field and test sites nationwide.
