Forward Deployed Engineer – Internal Data Products

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with business leaders and construction teams to comprehend workflows and establish requirements along with measurable outcomes.

• Create and develop internal applications, automations, and data products encompassing user interfaces, application logic, databases, and APIs.

• Quickly prototype and validate solutions with users by leveraging AI-assisted coding, traditional development methods, low-code platforms, and existing technologies.

• Collaborate with Data & Integration Engineering to link applications to governed enterprise and project data.

• Manage the delivery process from discovery through deployment, which includes testing, documentation, stakeholder communication, and coordinating technical dependencies and obstacles.

• Assess adoption and business impact, enhance solutions based on user feedback, and transform successful tools into reusable capabilities across teams, projects, and regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant software engineering experience, or a proven equivalent combination of experience and/or education (Level III).

• A Bachelor’s degree with at least six (6) years of relevant software engineering experience, or a proven equivalent combination of experience and/or education (Level IV).

• Proven experience in personally developing and deploying applications, automations, or data products utilized by actual users.

• Experience engaging directly with non-technical stakeholders to grasp business needs and convert them into technical requirements.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Java.

• Practical experience with SQL, relational databases, and APIs.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

• Ability to understand, debug, and validate code that has been generated.

• Strong practices in version control, testing, secure data and secrets management, and deployment.

• Sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is not currently available and will not be in the future.

• Attendance at in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location is required.
