Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of customer solutions from start to finish

• Quickly prototype, iterate, and implement solutions in active operational settings

• Establish trusted relationships with everyone from individual contributors to executive sponsors

• Act as the technical representative of Kinaxis with clients

• Simultaneously manage multiple customer engagements based on customer priorities and team capacity

• Set expectations, renegotiate when circumstances shift, work independently, and take responsibility for outcomes

• Collaborate within a small, multidisciplinary, self-directed POD team

• Work with Product and Engineering teams to translate field insights into sustainable platform capabilities

• Promote adoption and assist customers during solution transitions

• Guide customer operators and support teams in embracing new working methods

• Assess success through business outcomes such as efficiency improvements, reduction of exceptions, and enhancements in SLA

• Incorporate field insights back into the Kinaxis Maestro Platform and generalize successful solutions into reusable patterns

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–5 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, solutions engineering, or a technical-founder role

• Hands-on experience in developing LLM-based applications, RAG systems, multi-agent workflows, tool-use patterns, and prompt/context engineering

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, and agentic IDE workflows

• Understanding of agentic orchestration patterns, including single versus multi-agent architectures, memory, and state management

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience in building and deploying real systems

• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, with Python being highly preferred

• Capability to read and contribute to a polyglot codebase

• Experience with REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and enterprise-system integration

• Ability to create and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, serving, and monitoring using tools like Airflow, Kafka, dbt, or their equivalents

• Working knowledge of modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar

• Understanding of data modeling and performance principles

• Strong debugging skills with imperfect, real-world data in production environments

• Willingness to travel as needed, up to 50%

• Previous customer-facing technical experience is a strong advantage, though not mandatory

• Exposure to supply chain planning, logistics, or operations is beneficial but not required
